In October of 1975 Navy technician Scott Carter and his counter-culture wife Adriana opened The Enchanted Starship, selling comic books, science fiction and occult books.  In 1978 the first shop gave way to Doorway to Fantasy, and the selection expanded to include games and martial arts. Then came the explosion of 1981.  Over the following six years we opened Green Dragon, Karate Etc, Iron Dragon, A Step Beyond, A Step Beyond That, taught martial arts at gyms and colleges across the low-country, held seminars for belly-dance and metaphysics and stocked corner shelves in other businesses.  What a mess!  After all was said and done we realized that all we really wanted was Green Dragon. We closed or sold all the excess, and moved Green Dragon to the current location near Northwoods Mall in 1987. In 1990 we expanded the Green Dragon operation to six thousand square feet, adding more games, comics, books and martial arts supplies, as well as jewelry, incense, decorative figurines and more.  Since then the general nature of the store remains unchanged, though the combination of products is in constant flux.  Scott and Adriana moved in and out of the store over the decades, pursuing personal goals such as Adriana’s college career and Scott’s ever-increasing base of knowledge and experience. In the mid 1980’s Beowulf Carter joined the staff, eventually managing the entire operation for several years until the requirements of he and his daughter, Phaedra, sent him in other directions.  Now we finally move onto the internet to reach out to old and new customer/friends.
